What It’s All About

Celebrate Science Indiana, Indiana’s Premier Science Festival, is a public event that demonstrates the importance of studying science and the joy of discovery, the economic value of science, and its significance to society. For all age groups and for individuals from all walks of life, science impacts our daily lives, and the event aims to encourage young Hoosiers to pursue exciting, rewarding careers in science.

Celebrate Science Indiana features interactive events and activities, and, whenever possible, it will provide take-home information, activities, or innovative ideas for further investigation. Prominent participants at the event include local and national science-based industries and businesses, federal agencies, educational institutions, and public institutions that have a major emphasis on science or science education, such as the Indiana State Museum and the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.

Our Mission

Celebrate Science Indiana (CSI) aims to highlight the importance and value of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, research, and careers to Indiana and all Hoosiers.

Our Vision

CSI will engage Hoosiers of all ages in interactive STEM-related activities and discussions that will ignite their curiosity and imagination, encourage them to explore STEM-based education and career opportunities, and understand the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to Indiana’s future and the lives of its citizens. Participants from all walks of life will learn first-hand about the commitment, dedication, and rewards that are inherent in STEM-based careers.

Our Goals

  • Promote a shared vision among industry, education and the public of the importance of STEM-related skills in our economy, environment, health systems, and social systems.

  • Encourage Indiana citizens to remain in Indiana and contribute to and work in a STEM-related discipline.

  • Create interest among students early in their careers to explore, pursue, and persist towards a STEM-based education and career field.

  • Demonstrate and encourage participation in inquiry and exploration from a scientist’s perspective.

  • Highlight the work of educators, including university faculty, members of the I-STEM network, and the Indiana Department of Education that are related to STEM education and research.

  • Strengthen the network among constituencies for whom STEM education is critical for success.

Satellite Events

Help us make Celebrate Science Indiana a statewide celebration of science by hosting a Satellite Event in your community. Whether you are a community organization, student club, school, university, or company, why not put on your own STEM event the same month that thousands of people celebrate science in the Indianapolis area?

Your STEM event can be as big or small as you want. It can be a single activity put on by your student club, a small hands-on science and engineering expo at your school or company, a larger event that involves organizations from your community, or a full-fledged science festival modeled after Celebrate Science Indiana. Your event should provide hands-on science activities for kids and students and focus on science, technology, engineering or math.

Steering Committee

Celebrate Science Indiana is a fun, free, family event for Indiana. Celebrate Science Indiana will offer many interactive opportunities for individuals with an interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to learn more about how these areas are being applied by business and industry throughout Indiana and why it is important for students to consider pursuing a career in one of these disciplines. This event is the culmination of hard work by an organizing committee whose members are currently working in or are in some way involved with a STEM discipline.
