To our dear friends of Celebrate Science Indiana (CSI) and the Science Education Foundation of Indiana (SEFI)

Dear Friends,

First on behalf of the SEFI Board of Directors and the CSI Planning Committee, I want to express our hope that you and your loved ones have been able to avoid the health issues and the personal loss that is associated with the current COVID-19 pandemic. As scientists we realize how devastating this disease can be and the significance of everyone working together to prevent the further spread of the virus. That is why we want to emphasize the significance of wearing a mask and supporting our health officials when they say that it is very important that we all wear a mask every time we go out in a public area and that we follow social distancing guidelines.

I would like to update you on Celebrate Science Indiana 2020, which is always scheduled to occur on the first Saturday in October. While we would love to welcome everyone to the 2020 event in person, this will not be possible this year. We feel it is our responsibility as an organization to do all we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Therefore Celebrate Science Indiana 2020 on Saturday October 3 will go virtual and not be an in-person event this year.

In the spirit of the last 10 years, it is our goal to have our exhibitors prepare a STEM activity that you will be able to access through the internet by visiting the CSI website. Via our website we are planning to have a moderated session with the exhibitors so that you will be able to ask questions of the presenter and have a conversation despite being in an virtual environment. We will be drawing on what we learned from holding the Hoosier Science and Engineering Fair virtually this year to make CSI 2020 another success.
