SEFI at Pacer’s STEM Fest 2025
Yesterday, Gainbridge Fieldhouse was alive with energy as the sixth annual Indiana Pacers STEM Fest brought science, technology, engineering, and math to life, leaving attendees inspired and amazed. This year’s festival featured 39 dynamic booths, showcasing a wide variety of engaging activities, from robotics to chemistry.
Celebrate Science Indiana proudly hosted a booth for the sixth consecu
tive year, thanks to Larry Sernyk’s initiative and steadfast commitment to advancing STEM education. The booth also served as a platform to promote SEFI’s fall event, building anticipation for what’s to come.
This year, children delighted in creating Oobleck—a non-Newtonian fluid that behaves like both a solid and a liquid. They didn’t just explore it at the event—they got to take their Oobleck home, extending the fun and learning. SEFI Vice-Chair Andy Harris volunteered at the booth, alongside his son Jacob Harris, captivating young minds with the wonders of this peculiar substance. Their enthusiasm and hands-on demonstrations kept the booth buzzing, while Andy’s unique blend of science and humor provided an unforgettable experience for attendees. Even the Indiana Fever mascot, Freddy Fever, and four Indiana Pacers cheerleaders joined the fun, adding their own excitement to the activities.

The plasma ball at Celebrate Science Indiana’s booth was another activity at the Celebrate Science Indiana booth. Adults and children alike couldn’t resist touching the globe and marveling at the mesmerizing blue-white tendrils of plasma. Linda Osborn enriched the experience by explaining the intriguing science behind the phenomenon and distributing pocket-sized periodic tables to curious kids eager to learn more.
But the excitement doesn’t stop here! Celebrate Science Indiana returns on October 11, 2025 at Exposition Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Join us from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM for an even bigger celebration of STEM, featuring interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and countless opportunities to spark curiosity and creativity. This event promises fun for the whole family, so don’t miss your chance to explore, discover, and celebrate the wonders of science. See you there!
